Vietnamese Satay (Nem Nuong)

Ingredients

  • 500 g Slightly fatty pork, cut into 1 cm cubes
  • 4 cloves Garlic, crushed and chopped
  • 1 dessert spoon Palm sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Chinese rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon Groundnut oil

To Serve :

  • Noodle cakes
  • Salad plate
  • Easy peanut sauce
  • Nuoc cham sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix together the pork, garlic, sugar, salt, pepper, rice wine and groundnut oil in a bowl, cover and leave to marinate overnight.
  2. Thread the pork cubes on to the pre-soaked bamboo skewers and cook under a preheated grill for about 10 minutes, turning frequently.
  3. To eat the pork, wrap a piece in a noodle cake with some fresh herbs or a piece of lettuce.
  4. Pull the pork from the skewer, and dip it into the peanut sauce of dipping sauce.
